I spent a good bit of time making a personal SoundSet for GPO5 that is based on the key-switching system. You can even have ARIA open and tweak the knobs around till it sounds right, and save your 'ensemble preset' for future use. It could take as many as 20 CC messages to change all this in real time over a single 'key switching' instrument but, with single channel variations, all you have to do is send the SoundWorldID to 'swap instruments' on the fly. It's not uncommon at all to want several different variations of Arco, or Detache patches depending on the tempo and aggressiveness desired for a given passage. However, when you dedicate individual ARIA instrument slots to articulations, you can tweak out as many versions as you like in ways that are easy to call up and 'adjust' a bit while a score is playing.

In my experience, when it comes to the newer 'Orchestral Strings' instruments that come in GPO5, it's just way too much work to try to use the key switching versions (all of the real time CCs needed to get good sounds at different tempos and styles are just too much to be practical, even in a full blown tracking DAW with powerful CC lane editors). You'll create SoundWorld IDs that'll simply follow your SoundWorld hierarchy and hop ARIA instances and channels as needed. You can get up to 16 of them per ARIA instance. Set up each articulation on a fresh ARIA slot.Д¬hannel 1 - Violin Ensemble Normal (arco) If you want to use GPO5 in Sibelius I recommend NOT using the key-switching versions of instruments.
